A custom address at your own domain (you@yourdomain.com) looks far more professional than a free inbox and keeps your branding consistent. If your hosting uses DirectAdmin, here is how to create one and connect it to your devices.

Create the account

  1. Log in to DirectAdmin.
  2. Open E-Mail Accounts in the Email section.
  3. Click Create Account.
  4. Enter the username (the part before the @), choose the domain, and set a strong password.
  5. Set a mailbox quota (storage limit), or leave it unlimited.
  6. Click Create.

The address is live right away and can send and receive immediately.

Connect it to your phone or mail app

Use these settings in Outlook, Apple Mail, the Gmail app or any client. Replace yourdomain.com with your domain.

  • Incoming (IMAP): mail.yourdomain.com, port 993, SSL/TLS
  • Outgoing (SMTP): mail.yourdomain.com, port 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS)
  • Username: your full email address
  • Password: the one you just set

Prefer IMAP over POP3. IMAP keeps your mail in sync across every device, while POP3 tends to download it to one place and remove it from the server.

Webmail

To check mail in a browser with no setup, go to yourdomain.com/webmail and log in with the full address and password.

Troubleshooting

  • Cannot send: your network may block port 465, so try 587. Confirm SMTP authentication is on.
  • Login fails in the app: the username must be the full email address, not just the part before the @.
  • Mail not arriving: check the spam folder, and make sure your domain's MX records point to the mail server.

FAQ

What is the difference between IMAP and POP3?

IMAP syncs your mail across all devices and keeps it on the server. POP3 downloads it to one device. Use IMAP unless you have a specific reason not to.

Why is my outgoing mail going to spam?

Set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC records for your domain. They tell other providers your mail is legitimate.
